A new key biodiversity platform for cross sectoral collaboration
For its inaugural launch, World Biodiversity Summit will help define what world leaders and the private sector in biodiversity and climate action need to do in the medium and long term to achieve sustainable development and hinder further biodiversity loss, focusing on partnerships and investment mechanisms as levers of progress. World Biodiversity Summit is a platform for responding to accelerating biodiversity loss, by using the Paris Agreement as a framework to learn from, promoting relevant solutions, innovations, and leadership networks, strengthening nature restoration and conservation. Nature-based solutions will be highlighted, from specificecosystems to global possibilities.

Manuel Pulgar Vidal
Global Climate and Energy Lead, WWF
Manuel Pulgar-Vidal is the Global Leader of Climate & Energy at WWF and Chair of the IUCN Climate Crisis Commission. With over 35 years of experience in environmental law and policy, he served as Peru’s Minister of the Environment (2011–2016) and presided over COP20 in 2014. He previously led the Peruvian Society for Environmental Law and holds a law degree from Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú. Pulgar-Vidal is a board member of several environmental organizations and has been recognized with numerous international honors, including the Légion d'Honneur and the Shackleton Medal. He plays an active role in global climate initiatives, including the Race to Zero and Race to Resilience campaigns, and is involved in shaping the post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework. Pulgar-Vidal’s leadership continues to influence international climate and biodiversity policies.Â
