A new key biodiversity platform for cross sectoral collaboration
For its inaugural launch, World Biodiversity Summit will help define what world leaders and the private sector in biodiversity and climate action need to do in the medium and long term to achieve sustainable development and hinder further biodiversity loss, focusing on partnerships and investment mechanisms as levers of progress. World Biodiversity Summit is a platform for responding to accelerating biodiversity loss, by using the Paris Agreement as a framework to learn from, promoting relevant solutions, innovations, and leadership networks, strengthening nature restoration and conservation. Nature-based solutions will be highlighted, from specificecosystems to global possibilities.

Mary Wenzel
Managing Director, Corporate Engagement, The Nature Conservancy
Prior to joining TNC in June 2022, Mary was EVP and Head of Sustainability and ESG Integration at Wells Fargo. She led the development of the company’s climate commitment that set a goal of net-zero greenhouse gas emissions, including in its financed emissions, by 2050 and deployment of $500 billion in sustainable finance by 2030. Prior to Wells Fargo, Mary worked with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, managing relationships with tribal nations in the Western U.S., and as a program manager for the Energy STAR and methane reduction programs in the Climate Change Division of the US EPA in Washington, DC. She served on the boards of Grid Alternatives and the NREL Foundation.Â

Mary received her master’s degree from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs, and a BA in International Relations from the Johns Hopkins University.
