A new key biodiversity platform for cross sectoral collaboration
For its inaugural launch, World Biodiversity Summit will help define what world leaders and the private sector in biodiversity and climate action need to do in the medium and long term to achieve sustainable development and hinder further biodiversity loss, focusing on partnerships and investment mechanisms as levers of progress. World Biodiversity Summit is a platform for responding to accelerating biodiversity loss, by using the Paris Agreement as a framework to learn from, promoting relevant solutions, innovations, and leadership networks, strengthening nature restoration and conservation. Nature-based solutions will be highlighted, from specificecosystems to global possibilities.

Benj Sykes

Benj leads Ørsted’s UK business, overseeing relationships across government, authorities, and NGOs and securing consents for projects. He also leads the company’s global Environment Centre of Expertise. Until December 2020, Benj chaired the Offshore Wind Industry Coalition, leading the work to deliver the Offshore Wind Sector Deal and OSW's full contribution to net zero, and was a member of the Government’s Offshore Wind Acceleration Taskforce. He also served on the government’s Advisory Panel on Highly Protected Marine Areas. Benj led the global offshore renewable sector’s work in support of the UN Oceans Panel, forming the Offshore Renewable Energy Action Coalition and publishing their report on unlocking the global potential of ocean renewable energy. He is an Honorary Fellow of the Energy Institute, and is currently a member of the Board of the Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult and the Global Underwater Hub.
