A new key biodiversity platform for cross sectoral collaboration
For its inaugural launch, World Biodiversity Summit will help define what world leaders and the private sector in biodiversity and climate action need to do in the medium and long term to achieve sustainable development and hinder further biodiversity loss, focusing on partnerships and investment mechanisms as levers of progress. World Biodiversity Summit is a platform for responding to accelerating biodiversity loss, by using the Paris Agreement as a framework to learn from, promoting relevant solutions, innovations, and leadership networks, strengthening nature restoration and conservation. Nature-based solutions will be highlighted, from specificecosystems to global possibilities.

Carlos Fernando Galán
Mayor of Bogotá, City of Bogotá
Mayor Galán is a Colombian politician and former journalist, senator, and city councilor. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service from Georgetown University as well as a Master's degree in Public Administration from New York University. He served as the Secretary of Transparency for the Presidency of Colombia; was elected Senator in 2014 and championed legislative debates on land use and territorial planning. In 2023, he ran for Mayor of Bogota and achieved the highest voter turnout in the history of the city. His government program ‘Bogota walks safely’ reflects a collaborative and sensible style of participatory policy design, contains ambitious goals in security, sustainable development and public infrastructure.
